History and trash

A version for every minute you write, changes highlighted, and a trash that keeps each note's history.

Every minute, kept

Jotry keeps a version of a note for every minute you spend writing it. You don’t have to do anything: the history builds itself as you write, and it’s always there under the clock button at the top of a note.

The history of the Lisbon in May note, with five versions
  1. A timeline of versions, grouped by day.
  2. Each version says what happened: edited, checklist updated, imported, restored and more.
One version, with its changes and the full text
  1. Changes shows what this version changed: added text in green, removed text struck through in red.

See exactly what changed

Open any version to see two things: Changes, the lines that version changed, with additions and removals highlighted, and Full version, the whole note as it was at that moment.

Restore without fear

Two buttons sit at the bottom of every earlier version:

History stays inside Jotry, on your phone. Markdown exports include your current notes only.

The trash

Deleted notes go to the trash, from the menu on the home screen. They keep their whole history there, and you can restore them one at a time, or select several and restore them together. Empty trash deletes them for good, after one last chance to undo.
